Ecosystem Roshambo

The freshmen biology class has been learning about the Earth's ecosystems. They learned about the food chains and food webs.

The students played rounds of Roshambo to simulate the food chain and living in the ecosystem. This class chose the boreal forest as the ecosystem they would be living in for the activity.

They were given whiteboards in which they wrote an organism they thought would best survive in the ecosystem.

Mr. Negin then chose two random whiteboards, and those two Roshamboed. The winner stayed in the ecosystem and the other died off.

This link takes you to a video of Mr. Negin explaining the situation the Roshambo game brought the ecosystem to. He talks about the importance of microscopic organisms as well as foxes and other bigger animals.

The one who lost wrote down a new organism and went back into the game. This simple game was a fun way to allow the biology students to familiarize themselves with an ecosystem and the process of the food chain.
