Zendo in Chemistry

To practice their understanding of the scientific method and inductive logic, the chemistry students played a game called Zendo.

Basically, one person knows a secret "rule" for building little structures out of plastic pieces that are red, yellow, or blue and have different shapes. The rest of the players try to figure out the rule by building their own structures. The game leader says whether the new structures follow the rule or do not follow the rule.

From this information, the players try to deduce the "rule."

The game play in many ways follows scientific thought process. For instance, the best strategy when making guesses about the "secret rule" is to change only one variable at a time in order to understand the role of each variable in the answer, very much like the scientific method.
